German Teacher Training in Heidelberg

Teachers who teach language to pupils have to meet high didactic and pedagogical requirements. Teachers fulfil an educational mandate and thus support parents in making responsible citizens out of their children. Teaching methods evolve and should adapt to the needs of the pupils. Teaching must keep up with the times if teachers do not want to lose contact with their pupils.

The demands on a teacher and the requirements for modern teaching are high. Digitalisation and individual support for children and young people play a central role. Teachers must be familiar with social networks, the internet and computers or be able to integrate new media into their lessons.

Further training is essential for teachers to generate new impulses for their own teaching.

The Professional Development Seminar for German Teachers at the Academy of Languages is designed to provide teachers with theoretical insights into the methodology and didactics of teaching German as a foreign language. To this end, you will observe classes in which international students are taught by our experienced German as a foreign language teachers.

Our teachers act as mentors who familiarise you with language teaching on a practical and intercultural level. In addition, you will receive important impulses for the diverse use of media in the classroom.

If required, we can also organise observation in our live online lessons. Learn how to use all the technical possibilities - from e-books to YouTube - to pick up your students exactly where they are in order to hold an action-oriented, exciting, target group-specific lesson. We will introduce you to digital tools such as online whiteboards or online communication tools that you can use for your courses.

Likewise, if you wish, you can take home ideas on how to organise language teaching simultaneously as an online and classroom course in our hybrid classes.
