Our modern halls of residence offer international students not only comfort, but also the opportunity to live in a diverse and social environment. The options
range from living together in a shared flat or, for those who want a little more privacy, to fully furnished apartments.
All dormitory rooms, regardless of category, are equipped with a bed, a wardrobe, a desk and a chair as well as Wi-Fi. In addition, the residents of a hall of residence share washing machines and dryers.

The category E halls of residence are located in the old town and in Bergheim, 0.5-1.7 km from the school. The walk to the school is only 8-20 minutes. You can reach the school by public transport in approx. 8 minutes.

In addition to a bed, wardrobe, desk and chair, each room has its own kitchenette and bathroom including shower, toilet and washbasin.

Category C - Living in the old town
Location
The dormitory is located directly in Heidelberg's old town, about 500 meters from the school. It is only an 8-10 minute walk to the school.
Facilities
The Academy of Languages hall of residence in Märzgasse offers small apartments with two rooms. The residents of a two-room apartment share a kitchenette and a modern bathroom with washbasin, shower and WC.

Category B halls of residence are located 5 km from the school. The school can be reached by public transport in about 15-25 minutes.
Facilities:
The communal kitchen is the central meeting point for our international students. There they can cook together and test their German language skills. The WC is located on the same floor.
In addition to a bed, wardrobe, desk, chair and Wi-Fi, each room also has a fridge, shower and washbasin.

General information about the accommodation
What different accommodation options do I have?
We offer many different types of accommodation: the school's own halls of residence and apartments, hotels or host families. Please note that the location, size and facilities of the halls of residence vary depending on the category.
Arrival and departure
Arrival
You will receive an e-mail from us one to two weeks before your arrival with all the details about check-in, your accommodation and handing over the keys, and check-in takes place on Sundays between 10:00 and 22:00. Exceptions to this rule must be agreed with the accommodation team.
Departure
Please arrange a date for your departure with the accommodation department (no later than the Thursday before your last day) and check-out is before 12:00 on Saturdays. The keys will be handed over directly to our employee after your room has been checked.
My arrival is delayed. What do I have to do?
If your arrival is delayed due to force majeure, you must be aware that we may no longer be able to guarantee your booked room category or residence guarantee. In this case, we reserve the right to offer you accommodation in another hall of residence and/or another category of hall of residence.
In this case, the price difference for a lower dormitory category or the dormitory guarantee amount will be refunded in full, but there will be no additional charge for any upgrading that may be necessary! An exception to this rule is only possible if the rent for the booked room is paid from the time of the originally planned move-in.
The broadcasting fee
Public service broadcasting in Germany is paid for by the monthly contributions of each household; it does not matter whether there is a television connection. In return, you have a choice of 20 TV channels, more than 60 radio stations and lots of digital offerings. Each AOL dormitory room is a separate household and is therefore subject to contributions. The monthly fee is €18.36. We have prepareda practical FAQ about the broadcasting fee for you to download.
Is there free Wi-Fi?
All our halls of residence have free internet access. Please note that this is not a high-speed internet connection and that we accept no liability for technical faults, errors or failures. During the high season we rent additional rooms and apartments. Information about their internet facilities is available on request.
What is available in the rooms
Bed linen is provided by us. Please bring your own towels.
Do I have to bring my own cooking utensils?
Cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery can be rented on request and subject to availability for a deposit of €40 and a service charge of €50. (The deposit will be refunded when the complete and cleaned set is returned).
Where can I do my laundry?
Washing machines and dryers are available in our halls of residence. We assume no liability for the use of the machines. During the high season we rent additional rooms and apartments. Information about the washing machines and dryers in these rooms and apartments is available on request.
Is there a cleaning service?
You are responsible for the cleanliness of your room, bathroom and kitchen. The Academy of Languages cleaning service cleans the common areas twice a week.
What do I have to do if I want to extend my tenancy agreement?
Free rental extensions must be requested from the Accommodation Department four weeks before the end of the rental period. We charge a processing fee of €50 for requests for extensions of less than 14 days to the end of the contract.
However, we do not guarantee the rental extension of a specific room as availability depends on the number of bookings. We do not reserve rooms until a binding booking has been made.
How do I cancel my rental contract?
After the start of the rental period, it is possible to terminate the accommodation by giving six full weeks' notice and paying a termination fee of € 150.
Can I change my accommodation
You can change your accommodation from host family to student residence or from student residence to host family subject to a notice period of two weeks after availability.
How do I get my deposit back?
You will receive a move-out form after the room check. Please send a scan of the form with your bank details to rooms.hd@fuu.de so that we can transfer the deposit to you. Please note that it can take up to 20 working days for the money to reach your account. All bank charges for this transfer must be paid by the customer and will be deducted from the deposit.
How do I get from the airport to my accommodation?
Through partner companies we organize transfers from all surrounding airports directly to the meeting point for the key handover or to any other desired address in Heidelberg. We are happy to provide transportation services within Heidelberg, for example from the main train station to the hall of residence, for an additional charge. Transfers from the weekend meeting point to the hall of residence are free of charge and are organized by our weekend helpers.
I am traveling by car. Where can I park?
Some of our halls of residence offer chargeable but unmonitored parking spaces for weekly rental: Just get in touch with us. There is also the possibility of free parking on the roadside. Please observe the traffic and information signs on site to avoid penalties. The school accepts no liability whatsoever.
