The telc C2 German exam consists of an oral and a written section. The written exam takes 4 hours and 10 minutes, including a 20-minute break. In the oral part, you will be tested alone for 15 minutes.
The written exam consists of reading comprehension, listening comprehension, writing and written expression.
You have 80 minutes for the reading comprehension part. Your skills in the areas of understanding text logic, detailed comprehension and implicit comprehension will be tested. In the Understanding text logic section, you must put the sections of a text in the correct order, in particular with the help of your understanding of linguistic devices that create coherence. The other two parts test your ability to understand details that are communicated explicitly or implicitly in the text.
Listening Comprehension and Writing takes 60 minutes. This part tests your ability to transfer information from what you hear into a text. While listening to the text, you can take notes and then summarize the content in a formulated text.
In the written expression section, you have to write a discussion or statement within 90 minutes. Your ability to consider various sources on a topic and to write a linguistically sophisticated text on this basis will be tested.
In oral expression, you will be asked to present a topic that you have worked on during the preparation period in detail for approx. 6 to 8 minutes in a well-structured presentation. The examiner will then ask you questions about your presentation to test your skills in the following areas: Giving and asking for information; describing and discussing; reporting and narrating; commenting and justifying; and expressing possibilities.
